These days, when you look in the alternative dairy products aisle it can be overwhelming.  A lot of the products out there these days have a laundry list of ingredients on them as well.  When Moms Meet asked me if I would like to review New Barn Organic Unsweetened Almond Milk, which is made from a clean, simple ingredient formula, I was excited.

The first thing I noticed about New Barn Organic Unsweetened Almondmilk before I even opened it was the short ingredient list.  There are four ingredients in the unsweetned almondmilk:  water, almonds, acacia gum, and sea salt.  Just like homemade almondmilk, there are a lot of almonds in it – they use three times the almonds of other brands!  The use of so little ingredients also leads to a richer, thicker milk.  I also noticed the strong almond smell when I opened it.  You can really tell that there are almonds in there!  In fact, you will get three grams of plant based protein in each serving.  Also, this amazing milk is organic, Non-GMO, vegan, kosher, and Whole30 approved!

I discovered my favorite use of this almond milk is in my morning oatmeal.  Since it doesn’t have all of the extra ingredients that other products do, it doesn’t mix in with coffee as smoothly as you may be used to.  In fact, they have another product especially for coffee that provides great foam and texture.  While the unsweetned almondmilk tastes just fine in your coffee, it looks a little different and may take a bit of getting used to.  However, it is absolutely amazing in oatmeal and really shines there!  I thought the almond flavor would play well with pineapple and it really did.  I think blueberries and coconut would be great as well.

This tropical oatmeal uses large grain oats, almond milk, and pineapple and comes together in minutes!  Use maple syrup or your favorite sweetener if you would like it sweeter.

Simply combine 1/2 cup extra thick rolled oats, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup almond milk, and chopped pineapple in a bowl.  Microwave for one minute, stir, and microwave for an additional minute.

Let stand for a couple of minutes and top with additional pineapple.
