In Pensacola, Bonefish is a very popular place to eat. I’ve always been a fan of their Bang Bang shrimp, which now has several knock-offs around town. We were recently send a $50 giftcard to go check out their new menu.
There are a lot of great-sounding items on the new menu. Cold Snap Fresh Ceviche, served in a frozen glass made of ice. The Watermelon Salad and Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad are refreshing summer choices.
If you’re looking for something decadent, the Lobster Grilled Cheese sounds amazing. My husband was excited to try out the Rib-Eye Steak, and I thought the Spring Basil Fetuccine sounded wonderful. There also are some fun bowls that are new to the menu, with Spicy Tuna and NY Strip. For the vegetarians, there is even a Fire Roasted Vegetable Bowl.
I decided to try the Spring Basil Fetuccine, while my husband opted for the Rib-Eye Steak. He thought his steak was wonderful – he got the truffle butter on the side, but he said it wasn’t needed. While the vegetable portion could have been a bit bigger, overall it was a good dish.
The Spring Basil Fetuccine wasn’t quite what I was expecting. I added the salmon to it, and instead of having a nice salmon filet on top, there were small pieces throughout the dish. I would have preferred to have the filet. Other than artichokes, which were plentiful, and a few tomatoes, the rest of the vegetables were cut into tiny pieces and were rather lacking. While I was expecting a dish full of vegetables with a small portion of salmon, it ended up being a lot of salmon throughout the dish and not too many veggies. I also had several sections of pasta that were stuck together.
Little Miss loved her mac and cheese! It was one of the better plates of mac an cheese that we’ve gotten while dining out. Overall it was a fairly good meal and we had a good time dining out, but it’s not one of our Pensacola favorites.
