Can you believe summer is already here? I know for us, the year has just flown by! If you’re looking for ways to entertain your younger children and keep learning fun all summer long, then you’ll definitely be excited to hear about Leapfrog Summer Camp!
Running June 4-July 28, this FREE online program has weekly themes and exciting free learning activities geared towards 4-7 year olds that explore geography, writing, science, art and more.
I know I’ll be sharing this site with my daughter’s daycare because there are so many great ideas!
Here is one example from each week:
Week 1 Theme: Out & About
Teaching children about people, places and the wider world helps them understand the way they fit in as a global citizen.
Activity: Famous Places Race
This printable activity introduces children to famous places located in different regions of the United States. Activities such as this one help to build crucial familiarity with North American geography.
Week 2 Theme: Caring for Animals
Experience animals in new ways and explore themes of responsibility and compassion with your camper this week!
Activity: The Perfect Puppy Pad
Start a conversation with your camper about what pets need and what it means to be responsible for a pet. Then collect things from your house and from friends and neighbors to donate to your local animal shelter. Many animal shelters accept pet food, old towels, bath mats, blankets, bedding, cleaning supplies and chew toys.
Week 3 Theme: Puzzle Time
Build your camper’s logic and reasoning skills as they puzzle their way through brain-bending activities!
Activity: Secret Message
Decode this secret message with your camper. This engaging activity gives kids a great feeling of accomplishment while building reading skills. They’ll practice identifying and writing letters—important skills for reading and spelling.
Week 4 Theme: Art & Music
Let creativity run wild as your campers experiment with a range of media, including handmade instruments, crafts and a home art gallery!
Activity: Pteranodon Sculptures
These creatures were inspired by a wire-and-wood dog made by American sculptor and artist, Alexander Calder. Kids will love how the clothespin head makes the scupture interactive.
