So after almost two weeks of Brian being home and lots of Christmas fun, we’re back to the daily grind. We had such a great time having him here, but it is nice to get back on some sort of schedule.
Our New Year’s Eve was spent quietly with good friends. We feasted on lasagna and chocolate fondue. Later, we saw some great fireworks that the neighbors did, and one friend even did a New Year’s polar bear plunge! Much braver than me!
The next day brought us wonderful weather (it had been foggy the day before), and more time spent with good friends. We met Brian’s parents and more friends out at Laguna’s on the beach for Sunday brunch. I had their Laguna Burger without the burger, and I have to say I was very happy with that option! They have a ton of toppings you can add for just a quarter each, so I loaded mine up with avocado, sautéed mushrooms, cheese, and sautéed onions. Delicious! I’m glad I finally found something I really like there, since my husband loves going there.
Next we headed to Paradise for the Polar Bear Plunge, since the weather was nice. We were about 15 minutes late and missed the whole thing, but it was fun to see all of the people out there for the party! Little Miss made some friends and enjoyed playing in the sand, as usual.
After all of that, it was time to head home and get ready for a poker game! Brian had some of his old poker buddies over for a game, since he doesn’t get to play often now that he isn’t home as much. They played on the back porch, which seemed like a good idea when they started, but not so much so by the time they got finished and the temperature had dropped more than twenty degrees! By that time I was in my toasty warm bed reading a book.
This morning we awoke to cold weather and our normal routine. Little Miss was wonderful, I was worried about how she’d feel about going back to school, but I think she was ready to see her friends again! Plus she gets to show off her new outfits!
I hope you’re getting back into your daily schedule and I wish all of you Blessings in this New Year!
