One of the great things about living in Pensacola is all of the wonderful parks there. Plaza de Luna is located at the end of Palafox Street where it hits the water, and is a great place to hang out, feed the birds, watch people fish, and see some big ships or other things that are docked at the Port of Pensacola. The other day we grabbed some stale popcorn and headed over to feed the birds.
The birds quickly figured out there was free food!
We also checked out a huge boat that was docked nearby – I have no idea what kind of boat it was.
However, that yellow arched vessel in the background is the Versabar 10,000. The vessel is used to salvage damaged oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. The vessel can lift 7,500 tons of scrap metal from as far as 400 feet deep!
No trip to the Plaza is complete without a visit to the fountain! Can I have a penny Dad? I need to make a wish!
